Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has denied issuing vehicle number plates that bear proprietors’ names.
In an explanation to media, the RTA said the viral picture of one such plate was not officially endorsed.
“We wish to explain that (the) RTA hasn’t carried out such a vehicle plate plan that bears an individual’s name. We affirm that any new models of the plates are declared through the RTA’s official channels,” the authority added.
Everything started when Twitter client @HamadAlMajidi shared a picture of a Dubai number plate that included ‘7AMAD’ rather than digits.
He proposed that specialists could carry out such number plates in Dubai. As the picture became famous online, Al Majidi explained that the plate was a beautiful piece that he had gotten from an American site more than five years prior.
“The plate steers clear of the RTA by any means,” he tweeted.
A few nations all throughout the planet permit vehicle proprietors to customize their number plates with words rather than numbers. Such number plates, notwithstanding, are not accessible in the UAE yet.
