The Dubai Police have seized 1,097 vehicles with illegal speed boosters.
This came as a feature of a police campaign against illegally modified cars, which started on February 11. The campaign focused on vehicles with motors that were modified to make them stronger and quicker.
The violators were of nine unique nationalities.
Brigadier Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, Director of the General Department of Traffic Police, said drivers frequently let completely go over such vehicles, as the original body details and motor limit don’t coordinate.
Such vehicles are destructive and have, before, caused fatal mishaps.
The official said the penalty for illegal alteration is Dh1,000 fine, 12 dark focuses and a 30-day impoundment.
Brigadier Abdullah Khadim Sorour, Director of Bur Dubai Police Station, said they seized 994 vehicles on Jumeirah Street; 79 on Al Wasl St; 21 on second of December St; and three on Zabeel St.
Brig. Sorour focused on that street safety is everybody’s duty. “Together, we should bring together endeavors and keep up the safety and security of our roads.”
